But it took me a long time to swallow it. Over a span of 4 months I attempted to read Alpha Highways as I kept losing interest. It was recommended by Sister Himalaya, Stewart's daughter of whom I follow on tumblr. Being a young guy who's been on adventures himself, I downloaded this ebook with great eagerness to consume it but couldn't get past the inconsistencies in facts, the abundance of grammatical errors, the lack of balance between showing and telling the story, I didn't feel the end wrapped up both trips to South America enough or effectively. I still feel the story has great promise--maybe an edited and reworked reissue is possible.There were some parts Stewart wrote that kept me on the edge of my seat: the beginning hooked me and got me excited, the detainment with the Commander and Jefe kept me interested, but the rest was kind of "spark and fizzle."

A nice easy read. A good adventure, the type we all wanted to take when we were young. A little scary in parts with the political situation being what it was in the 70's
I totally enjoyed this book by Keith Stewart. His attention to detail drew me into his travels as though I were right along side him. Each time I would pick it up to read more....I would find it so hard to put it back down. He truly held my attention from the beginning to the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in travel and adventure and seeing other parts of the world.
